In 2010, I was struck by a newly-licensed teenage driver. I was out for my daily bike ride, and never expected to be in an ambulance by day's end - rushed across state lines to the nearest trauma center.
My injuries were severe. My broken bones and lacerations eventually healed. On that fated November day, I joined a club that no one expects to join - I was about to begin a new life as a traumatic brain injury survivor.
Members of the medical community had little hope for any meaningful recovery. I was told that life as I knew it was over, and that I was destined to live a life of hardship and challenges.
That day was the most pivotal day of my life. I emerged stronger than ever, TBI challenges notwithstanding, with a new mission in life - to educate others about brain injury.
Spanning over thirty years, my relationship with heartfelt communication has evolved as much as I have. I have a passion for wrapping my unique life experience as a true survivor around a wide range of topics in a way that will make you think, come away deeply inspired and perhaps change your life.
