"Many people, even those who know me best, often ask what I do. Rather than bore someone with the ins and outs of my day-to-day life, I often just say, "'I create things."
Yes, there is a certain mystique with a response like that. This all-encompassing statement is meant to reach beyond my professional life and actually touches all aspects of my life. Yes, I am a nationally published author. I create thoughts and images in the minds of my readers by the words I lay down on paper.
But that is just the tip of my own personal iceberg.
Professionally, I create with the written word, graphic artwork, and a wide range of other mediums in the daily world of running my company. Personally, I create as well. I work to create and recreate a safe and sacred space in our home. I create relationships and meaningful friendships.
But these days, the creation of a new life, a life after brain injury, is the main focus of my life. Long before my injury, I had a voice that carried. My written work has seen worldwide distribution over the last decade. I now use my new voice to cast a spotlight on America's silent epidemic: Traumatic Brain Injury
If you have read this far, you have an interest in brain injury. Whether you are a survivor, a family member, or a medical professional, my book Metamorphosis, Surviving Brain injury is a candid, open and often painfully blunt look at life through the eyes of a brain injury survivor.
It is a tale of overcoming immense challenges and holding out hope when the light dims. You may laugh, you might cry, but you WILL LEARN about life after brain injury.
If you choose to join me on my journey, I thank you."
